A neighbor who lived directly across 10th avenue smelled smoke in the wee hours Friday and went to investigate the source. During the course of the fire she took a number of pictures which you will see on this site.
The Saldanas' restaurant and home was soon engulfed in flames. The fire claimed three family members in the small southeastern Colorado farming town of Springfield. The cause of the fire was determined to be a faulty wood stove ventilation pipe. The fire destroyed the family's Hometown Burrito restaurant and attached home.
